Charity’s dumped by Vanessa… then son Moses is kidnapped!

-

Her world is crashing in on her

If there’s one thing guaranteed in soapland, it’s that the good times don’t last for long. Charity Dingle, whose life has been pretty peachy of late, is reminded of that when, in the space of a week, fiancée Vanessa dumps her and young son Moses is kidnapped.

First up is the big heave-ho, and Charity has no one to blame but herself. She has sworn to Vanessa that the wad of cash she has come into is kosher – when, in fact, it’s courtesy of the casino heist she pulled off with Mandy and Vinny.

When Vanessa discovers the truth, she confronts her girlfriend in The Woolpack, giving her the chance to come clean. But Charity spouts more lies, and a furious Vanessa tells her they’re over. ‘Charity has always felt that she wears the trousers,’ says Emma Atkins, who plays her. ‘So at first, she thinks that Vanessa will forgive her.

‘But Vanessa has been lied to enough in the past, and the betrayal is too big.’

As Charity licks her wounds, a couple of other Dingles are involved in dodgy deeds. Cain and Aaron have teamed up and stolen a car to sell on.

But when Cain’s at the garage, he’s approached by a stranger called Sean. Cain realises the fella is part of a gang that he and his nephew have nicked the motor from. Clearly, they’ve messed with the wrong man.

Cain and Aaron soon find a buyer for the hot wheels, and off they head with Moses in tow, as Cain has been lumbered with the lad. But Sean is lurking.

The pair manage to offload Mozza onto another villager, but things then take a nasty turn when smug Sean calls to say that he’s kidnapped the little mite!

Needless to say, Charity’s frantic when she finds out.

‘Her world is crashing in on her,’ adds Emma, ‘and it’s not like she can go running to Vanessa. That relationship has gone now. It has evaporated because of her wrongdoing.’

Cain and Aaron get Moses back by handing over the car, but Charity remains livid. She’s further riled when Chas defends Aaron’s actions, and a huge rift develops between the two landladies.

Without Vanessa or Chas to lean on, will Charity self-destruct?
