GOOD OMENS FAVOURITE ON-DEMAND SHOW

EDITOR’S AWARD FOR SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION TO TV

-

The friendship between an angel (played by Michael Sheen) and a demon (David Tennant) battling to prevent the end of the world saw you vote Amazon Prime Video’s comedy drama Good Omens your Favourite On-demand Show.

Writer Neil Gaiman, who adapted the series from his own 1990 novel that he co-wrote with the late Terry Pratchett, accepted the award with Good Omens director Douglas Mackinnon on behalf of the whole team.

‘It’s an honour and a thrill,’ says Neil. ‘The TV Times Awards are special because the people vote. That means a lot, especially seeing the company we were in on the shortlist. I’m so glad people appreciated our little show about love, demons, angels and Armageddon. I just wish Terry was with us. He’d probably make sure the award wound up on his mantelpiece, though!’

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have a lot to celebrate. As well as their 10-year anniversary presenting together, their long-running series This Morning has scooped our award for Favourite Daytime Show! We delivered the trophy to ITV’S studios in London and here’s what they had to say… Congratulations! What does it mean to win this award? Holly: It’s lovely! And it’s nice to end 2019 on a high note. Phillip: It’s great to get an award from a panel, of course, but as this is voted for by TV Times readers who watch the show, that’s a lovely feeling. You’ve been presenting the show together since 2009 – do you still enjoy it?

Holly: We love it! You never know what’s going to happen. You can be crying one minute, then laughing so hard the next! Phillip: I also love that we get to talk to all sorts of people, whether it’s someone from the

Pride of Britain Awards or Jeff Goldblum! The range is massive. Any exciting plans for the show next year? Phillip: Early next year we will revisit This Morning’s Project 84 campaign, supporting the prevention of male suicide. Will you be grabbing a copy of our Christmas issue?

Holly: I always get TV Times at Christmas. I circle shows I want to watch with a pen. Phillip: I like to have a copy of TV Times, too.

I think I was in my 20s when I was first on the cover, so to be given this award by your readers now, it’s like we’ve grown up together! Do you have a special message for our readers? Phillip: Thank you for voting for us, and Merry Christmas! Holly: The fact that you enjoy watching This Morning as much as we love making it is wonderful. Happy Christmas!

It’s been a landmark year for BBC1’S DIY SOS, as the life-affirming series celebrated its 20th anniversary before going on to complete an impressive Nightsafe project for homeless children in Blackburn, Lancashire, for Children in Need.

As a small token of our appreciation and admiration,

TV Times is delighted to present Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team with this year’s Editor’s Award, to mark its outstanding contribution to television as well as communities up and down the country.

‘On behalf of the whole team, we’re honoured to receive the TV Times Editor’s Award for Special Contribution to TV,’ beams Nick. ‘We’d like to dedicate it to the 20,000 builders and thousands of suppliers and volunteers.

Their generosity makes our transformations possible. We work for amazing people with amazing people, so we consider ourselves truly blessed.

‘We’re now fighting over which mantelpiece gets to be the home of the award,’ laughs Nick. ‘It’s getting pretty ugly to be honest!’

It’s been a traumatic year for Victoria Barton, who was raped by Lee Posner in the summer and subsequently discovered she was carrying his baby. But the chef has found the strength to move forward – and the festive season is set to be one she’ll never forget.

As the villagers descend on The Woolpack to welcome in 2020, Vic initially joins in the party, but decides to leave for some peace and quiet. And that’s when the fireworks really begin…

‘It all gets a bit much for her, and she takes herself off,’ reveals Isabel Hodgins, who plays the mum-to-be. ‘And then her waters break!’

Viewers will have to tune in to find out if Vic’s special delivery goes to plan.

‘After everything she has been through, she deserves a nice birth – but this is soap!’ says Isabel. ‘I think Amy would be the ideal birth partner, but who ends up by Vic’s side is a secret.’

And so begins the start of what should hopefully be much happier times. The circumstances have been harrowing, but Vic’s dream to become a mum is now finally going to come true.

‘It’ll be exciting to see her as a mother,’ adds Isabel, ‘and I think she will be a natural. She’s had experience with Isaac and Seb, so she knows her way around a nappy! I just don’t want her to shut out the world and say,

“We don’t need anyone else.”i hope

2020 is going to be her year.’

As Vic’s going through the rigours of labour, off screen Isabel will be having a much more serene time. After a family

Christmas, she’s hoping to jet off to Iceland.

‘I’d love to see the Northern Lights,’ she smiles. ‘The world is a big place, and

I want to see as much of it as I can.’

It’ll be exciting to see her as a mother
