SADLY, THERE’S NO CURE FOR JAKE.

SO WHY ARE WE ASKING FOR MONEY?

-

TODAY, IN THE UK, UP TO FIVE CHILDREN WILL LOSE THEIR LIVES TO RARE AND COMPLEX ILLNESSES.

Jake has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

It’s a devastating disease that causes progressive paralysis and, ultimately, death. There is no cure yet. However, thanks to a pioneering gene-patching research trial at GOSH, there is a possibility that the progress of Jake’s illness can be slowed and, in the future, even halted. It’s this hope for a breakthrough that helps brave families like Jake’s to keep going. But, for this project – and our other research projects – to continue, we need much more than hope. We need your support.

ON ANY GIVEN DAY, GOSH HAS OVER 900 LIFE-SAVING RESEARCH PROJECTS ON THE GO.

We are the largest dedicated funder of child health research in the UK.

And as one of the top three children’s hospitals in the world, we’re saving young lives every single day. Right now we’re pioneering new treatments for devastating brain tumours. We’re perfecting techniques for performing surgery while a child is still in the womb. And we’re leading the science of growing replacement cells, tissues and organs in the lab.

THE ONLY WAY WE CAN DO MORE IS IF PEOPLE DONATE MORE.

We believe in the power of research.

But world-class research costs money – and only 5% of the UK’S public and charitable research funding goes to child health. Who fills the gap? People like you. Small, regular donations have helped to pay for some of the biggest medical advances of the last decade. Your £5 a month will help us hire worldclass researchers, find kinder treatments, and make desperately needed breakthroughs. Please donate if you can.
