n a place where you can’t change the colour of your bog roll without everyone knowing, it’s nothing short of a minor miracle that Mandy’s ex, Paul, has managed to work at the scrap-metal yard for almost two months without anyone – including his son, Vinny – having a clue who he is.
This week, though, all that masquerading as ‘Alex’ is finally over, as Paul bites the bullet and tells Vin the truth – he’s his long-lost daddy.

‘Mandy and Lydia hide behind a washing machine, and earwig on the conversation,’ reveals Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy. ‘Once Paul has gone, she probes Vinny about “Alex” and then sends him upstairs, at which point she grabs his phone and sets up a meeting with Paul, who thinks it’s Vinny texting him.’
The following day, Mandy meets Paul away from Wishing Well, and he is stunned to realise he has been duped. She warns him to stay away from the lad he abandoned as a tot, and tears into

him for the way he hung her out to dry all those years ago.
But when she returns home, in dire need of a drink, Paul is waiting for her, and insists he won’t be dictated to.
‘Mandy panics,’ adds Lisa. ‘She knows Vinny is due back from the scrapyard any minute. Of course, he bursts in and is like, “All right, Alex, what are you doing here?”’
Mands tries to cover, but Paul caves in and reveals his true identity. Vinny’s livid that he has been lied to, and storms off. He’s still AWOL the following morning.
‘Mandy’s never been more frantic,’ says Lisa. ‘It’s all hands on deck to try to find him.’
Can Vinny be tracked down? And if so, will he let Mandy and Paul back into his life? Andrea
