Pal Joey
★★★★ MUSICAL A splashy, garishly entertaining, perfectly cast musical, with Frank Sinatra ideal as the singing con-man who finds hell hath no fury like a rich mistress scorned when true love comes along. One of Rodgers and Hart’s best scores includes The Lady Is a Tramp and Funny Valentine. Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak both have some good moments as the contrasting women in Joey’s life, but the songs are the thing. Dir: George Sidney 1957, PG, 105min
