Billy Wilder’s classy film sees musicians Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon in 1930s Chicago dressing as women to join an all-girl band after they fall foul of the Mob. That’s the story, but the joy is in wonderful scenes such as Curtis pretending to be a shy billionaire with a Cary Grant accent to attract Marilyn Monroe. There are Talking Pictures dedicated to Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis at 3pm and 5.40pm today, too. ★★★★★ NP
