with swimming trunks, this feel-good comedy follows the fortunes of an all-male amateur synchronised swimming team. Rob Brydon’s depressed accountant is in the throes of a midlife crisis when the oddball squad – which includes a dour widower (Jim Carter) and a grumpy failed footballer (Daniel Mays) – coax him into the pool. There’s a bit too much treading water as they train for the world championships, but Brydon and co have enough buoyant charm to ensure it goes out with a splash. ★★★ JB
