Pleasant surprise
The Circle on C4 sounded like a lockdown version of Big Brother to me, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this reality series. A clever combination of professionalism and endearing wackiness makes this show addictive, escapist entertainment.

Adorable
I watched E4’s Teen First Dates and I have to say how adorable it was. Many people criticise youngsters but this series showed just how kind, caring and loving they can be. It was just the tonic we need in these dreary times!

Mighty brave
BBC1’S Masterchef is never the show to watch when you’re trying to be good. I think Michele should win – all her dishes looked amazing! Such an inspiring cook, but all the contestants are mighty brave.

Top memories
It’s been great to see Chris Harris, Paddy Mcguinness and Freddie Flintoff back on BBC1 with Top Gear. The opener, where they drove the cars they associated with their childhoods, was poignant.

Golden Shane
Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane Macgowan was a brilliant BBC4 documentary. There was wit and poignancy throughout. It was both weird and wonderful, and a fine tribute to the very popular music genius.

NHS heroes
The documentary 2020: The Story of Us was difficult to watch but thank you, ITV, for highlighting the efforts of NHS staff and how their jobs can affect their own mental and physical health – they are all heroes.

Caroline’s legacy
After watching C4’s Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death, I was horrified at the abuse she received. It must have been so hard for her and her family.
