What’s wrong with Kim?

She collapses at Home Farm – is she seriously ill?

-

LYDIA URGES HER TO SEE A DOCTOR,

BUT KIM IS ADAMANT THAT SHE WON’T

Kim hasn’t been her usual sharp self of late, as brood mare Gabby has noticed. And this week, after showing further signs of confusion, she keels over at Home Farm. Could the village vixen be seriously ill?

The collapse happens after Kim has kicked off about Jamie and Andrea’s divorce. Her son has agreed to Andrea’s request that she gets Dale View in the settlement, so she has solid roots from which to raise their daughter, Millie. But Kim wanted to keep Tate assets in the family, and give Andrea a token pay-off.

‘Kim had taken Jamie’s name off a lot of the assets, temporarily, so that Andrea couldn’t get her hands on them,’ explains Claire King, who plays her. ‘But she’s not in the best of health at the moment and, in her befuddled mind, she has omitted to do that with Dale View.

‘She had got Gabby on board, supposedly to sort the whole mess out and remedy the situation, but she has failed miserably. So Kim is very irritated with Gabby on that score.’

Mother and son have a blazing row and, when Jamie turns on his heels, it’s Gabby who gets it in the neck, as Kim – fuelled by several glasses of super-expensive brandy – tells her she’s a waste of space and needs to pack her bags.

She soon sees the error of her ways and tells the pregnant teen she can stay, but a stung Gabby has heard enough and leaves. As she slams the door behind her, Kim loses her balance and collapses.

‘Kim is unconscious in the hall overnight, until Lydia finds her the next morning,’ reveals Claire. ‘Lydia urges her to see a doctor, but Kim is adamant that she won’t – she is scared of what the doctor might tell her, and that it might have something to do with an illness her late father had.’

Instead, Kim Googles her symptoms on her laptop. Gabby walks in and, as she sees what’s on the screen, Kim crumbles and opens up to both her and Lydia about her darkest fears.

But is her hunch spot on, or is the ballsy businesswoman barking up the wrong tree?
