Sharon and Rita, you may recall, fell out over The Kabin.
Rita gifted Sharon the business so she could build a future in Weatherfield, but just months later, Sharon married love rat ex Ian and decided to sell up.
Rita shelled out a small fortune to buy back her beloved newsagents, and felt utterly betrayed as Sharon and Ian swanned off to Bolton.
Rita’s chatting with Gemma in The Kabin when Sharon walks in and reveals she’s nominated her for a Golden Heart Award for her services to fostering and also by way of an apology. As the women then head to the Rovers, Sharon reveals that she had cancer and Ian ran off with a woman he met online.
But while Rita starts to thaw, Jenny is cautious as she’s introduced to her ‘sister’ and tells Gemma that Sharon is surely back to try to swindle generoushearted Rita out of more cash.
Not wanting Reet Petite to be taken for a ride again, the pair tell Sharon to sling her hook. But Rita’s livid when she finds out, and insists on holding peace talks at the Bistro.
Over dinner, Jenny, Gemma and Sharon agree that they all feel like Rita’s daughters, and vow to try to get along. As Sharon then admits to feeling lonely after the death of her brother, Wayne, Rita invites her to stay with her for a while.
But could Rita’s kind gesture be one she lives to regret?
