Mandy does a dodgy job with Mack in a bid to pay off Paul’s debts
Paul Ashdale may be six feet under, but Mandy’s former fiancé is still casting a dark shadow over the Dales. Shortly after he carked it, Lydia discovered the scheming gambler had taken out a credit card in her name, and left her £5,000 in debt. On top of that, his funeral needs paying for. It was a pitiful send-off, but the bill would suggest otherwise.
What Mandy needs is a pile of cash to get him out of their lives for good. And what does a Dingle do when they need money? Why, a spot of criminal activity, of course.
The family initially hope Lydia’s debt can be wiped if they explain to the bank that her card was obtained fraudulently. But it’s a case of ‘computer says no’.
As for the funeral bill, Mandy hopes Charity can bail her out.
‘Mandy knows Charity has a few quid, after selling her share of the Woolpack,’ explains our
Emmerdale mole.
‘But Charity plays hardball and offers to buy the salon off her. That’s Mandy’s pride and joy, so she doesn’t take too kindly to that!’
Mandy, Sam and Lyds go to the pub for a brainstorming session, leaving Vinny behind, who is preoccupied by a notebook he has found among Paul’s possessions. As Liv arrives, he explains that it contains a list of Paul’s wins and losses, as well as future betting tips.
Liv urges him to get rid of it, but once she’s gone, he logs on to a gambling website…
Mandy, meanwhile, is intrigued to overhear Mack and Nicola plotting something. When she then calls in on Vinny, she’s shocked to find him tuning into a horse race.
Adds our mole, ‘Vinny’s thrilled when his horse wins, knowing he can help pay off the debt. But Mandy’s worried he’ll end up like his dad.’
Wanting to take the responsibility for their situation off her son’s shoulders, Mands heads to Butlers, and threatens to blow the whistle on Mack unless he cuts her in on his job.
The shady Scot has no choice but to agree, and the pair later meet with Mack’s contact, Kev. But Mandy’s rash actions leave them in grave danger.
Will she go the same way as her evil ex?
