It’s crunch time for Whitney and Kush, but will their escape plan come off?
WHITNEY HAS NO IDEA
OF HOW POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS GRAY COULD
BE
Alot has changed since Kush did his deal with Phil last year.
Back then, he was shacked up with Kat, and his gambling addiction had put a huge financial strain on her and the rest of the Slaters. So Phil’s proposal that he take the rap for the Mitchell/slater car heist and a host of other Mitchell family crimes, in exchange for a whopping payout on his release from prison, seemed like an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Fast forward a few months, and the hunky market trader is engaged to Whitney after a whirlwind romance. Now that he’s loved up and desperate to start a new life with the stunning brunette, a long stretch in the slammer has never seemed so unappealing. And so, this week, the couple set a plan in motion to flee Walford together. Question is, can they pull it off?
‘Whitney is pretty confident they can,’ says Shona Mcgarty, who plays the smitten childminder. ‘She thinks that with
Kush by her side, anything is possible.
‘She sees him as her knight in shining armour, and believes that no harm can come to her when he’s around. So she’s looking forward to it!’
But the pair haven’t realised there’s an enemy in their midst. Evil Gray wants Whit to be a replacement for dead wife Chantelle, and is seething with jealousy that Kush has snapped her up. The sick solicitor has proved he’ll do anything to get what he wants, having murdered both Chantelle and Tina Carter. Could he put a spanner in the works?
‘Whitney has no idea of how potentially dangerous Gray could be,’ adds Shona. ‘She can’t see any jealousy. He had a little outburst recently, but she thinks that was purely down to the stress of him being a single father.
‘Gray is good at being manipulative and charming, and Whitney sees the good in people far too often, so she blocks out the negatives. Plus, she’s invested in Kush, so she’s distracted by that.’
As D-day arrives, the happy couple brace themselves for their life-changing decision.
We know that actor Davood Ghadami, who plays Kush, is leaving the soap this week.
Will Whitney be departing the Square, too, or is tragedy set to tear the couple apart?
