Discovering: Dean Martin
Today’s edition of Discovering looks at the laidback American entertainer who started life as Dino Crocetti, son of Italian immigrants. After a brief stint as a boxer, he began singing in clubs and his career took off when he met Jerry Lewis. They developed a comedy act which was hugely successful, but these days Martin is more associated with The Rat Pack and their films such as Ocean’s 11 and performances at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. ★★★ JP
