Fifty years ago, The Old Grey Whistle Test began broadcasting on BBC2, offering performances (live as opposed to mimed) for discerning music fans who wanted to explore beyond the pop chart, and giving many bands exposure they’d never have got otherwise. This documentary, first shown in 2007, looks at the history of the much-loved show, with contributions from Bob Harris and Annie Nightingale among others.
