Peter Kay and Sian Gibson reunited for a much-anticipated improvised episode of their hit BBC1 sitcom Car Share.

The story of supermarket assistant manager John Redmond (played by Peter) and promotions rep Kayleigh Kitson (Sian) paired together in the company’s car-share scheme tickled our funny bones and captured our hearts as their friendship blossomed into a ‘will they, won’t they?’ romance.

The show ended in 2017 after two series, but the reaction of fans who desperately wanted a happy ending for John and Kayleigh led to this improvised special.

‘As Sian and myself often ad lib when filming, we thought we’d give it a go for an entire episode,’ Peter told us. ‘We just reacted to whatever came on the car radio and went with it!’

The pair returned a few weeks later in the last ever episode, with over six million of us tuning in.

Also that week…
