Judgement day

The Carters head to court for Katy Lewis’ sentencing

-

Katy Lewis, the former care worker who sexually abused Mick Carter, is in court this week to find out her fate. She has spared Mick the ordeal of a trial by pleading guilty – but will her sentence reflect her wicked crimes?

The court case reaches a climax as things at The Vic are... well, complicated. Linda is pregnant with Max’s baby, and Nancy has moved out because her parents won’t support her decision to get sterilised.

Mick’s trying to pen his victimimpact statement when Nancy shows up. She claims that living with Sharon is a blast – but when she realises Linda isn’t around and she needn’t put on a front, she admits that it’s awful.

Seeing her dad’s writing, she encourages Mick to not only finish the statement, but to read it out himself in court. A buoyed Mick agrees, little realising that Katy is standing just yards away, outside…

Frankie is later horrified to clap eyes on Katy at the club, and rushes back to the comfort of the pub. But she’s hurt when Shirley boasts that Mick’s statement will be enough to send her mum down for life.

Her head is further mashed when, in a secret meeting with Katy, she’s asked to provide a character reference. Reporting back to Shirl, she insists it’s a ‘no’, but it’s obvious she feels conflicted.

On the eve of Katy’s sentencing hearing, Nancy reassures her dad that they’ll soon be able to put everything behind them, while he informs Linda of his intention to tell his own truth.

As the Carters then leave for court the next day, will they see Katy get her just deserts?
