Ready for whatever comes through those big barn doors, Jay Blades and his team of crack craftspeople this week embrace the usual mix of the familiar and the exotic. A Victorian carved wood table and a 1970s swivel-ball chair cover those bases, and so do the next two items – a one-armed bandit/fruit machine (delete according to age) and a cute mechanical toy dog so intricate and delicate it requires the combined skills and experience of Steve Fletcher and the Bear Ladies to stand any chance of getting it to work again. ★★★★
