This year’s contestants were still being revealed as TV Times went to press, but two Corrie stars – Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and Will Mellor (Harvey Gaskell) – will be taking to the dance floor. ‘I know it will be a huge challenge, but that’s what life is all about,’ says Will. ‘This is also my mum’s favourite show, and she’s had a really tough few years, so I’m doing this for her as well!’ Radio presenter Richie Anderson and Kiss FM DJ Tyler West will also be putting on their dancing shoes, along with comedian/actors Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso) and Jayde Adams (Alma’s Not Normal) as well as Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams. ‘I said I wanted to make the last year of my 50s memorable,’ says Kaye. ‘I can’t think of a better way of doing it than showing the world my two left feet. Pray for me!’
Also in the line-up are Bros’ Matt Goss, CBBC star Molly Rainford, ex-footballer Tony Adams, singer Fleur East and five-time Paralympic champion swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
‘It’s been so hard keeping this secret, as I’ve wanted to tell everyone!’ says Ellie. ‘I’ve been watching Strictly from as far back as I can remember.
It’s a traditional lead-up to Christmas with my family, and it’s a genuine privilege to be part of it.’
