EDWARD’S SCHEME

In a bid to secure a financial future for himself and his newborn son George, villainous Sir Edward Denham (Jack Fox) is drugging his sister Esther (Charlotte Spencer) with laudanum to make her seem mad, hoping that she will be committed to an asylum and disinherited. Only his fiancée Clara (Lily Sacofsky) knows what he’s up to – but will she speak up?

‘We’ve seen Clara and Esther develop a genuine friendship across series two,’ says Justin. ‘Esther has shown her great kindness, and we see a conflict in Clara – Edward is convincing her that he’s doing what’s best for her child, but can she stand by and watch him ruin Esther’s life? Hopefully Clara will do the right thing and Edward will get his comeuppance!’
