Dreaming of the future income that an Army barracks could generate, entrepreneur Tom Parker was hoodwinked by dastardly Colonel Lennox into losing lots of money in a dice game – and now Lennox refuses to settle his own bills with Sanditon’s shopkeepers until Tom pays his gambling debts. With the town on the verge of insolvency, Tom stakes everything on one final game.
‘Tom’s heart is in the right place – he’s a decent man, but he sometimes overreaches,’ explains Justin. ‘I think what we all want to see is for Tom to come good.
‘We ended the first series with Tom destroying everything, with Sanditon literally in ashes – we didn’t want him to ruin everything again, so he gains a measure of redemption in the final episode.’
