FROZEN PEAKS

-

EPISODE THREE

A glimpse at how animals fare in icy altitudes showcases mountain-dwellers, including macaques who huddle together in the Japanese Alps, the savvy kea parrot in New Zealand, plus pumas and flamingos in Chile. ‘We saw golden eagles in the European Alps hunt mountain goats by dropping them over cliffs,’ shares Alex Lanchester, who also produced this episode. ‘And on Mount Kenya in Africa, we have cute baby chameleons that are born around 4,000 metres up in this world of freeze-thaw cycles.

‘Plus, we have a giant panda in China that looks like it’s twerking! Male pandas scent-mark their territories and get it higher up a tree by doing a handstand and shimmying!’
