Mackenzie is hounded by his mystery lover
It probably lasted a few tawdry minutes, but Mackenzie’s one-night stand has given him hours of grief. And this week, the dark cloud hanging over him becomes that little bit bigger when the mystery lady (or man) he slept with calls him up… and not for the first time.
In case you missed Mack’s indiscretion, it came after a blinding row with Charity when he shared his wish to try for another baby following her ectopic pregnancy. Wounded by her response that he should ‘scatter his seed’ elsewhere,
Mack did just that – only for Charity to announce she’d had a rethink and wouldn’t rule out having his child in the future.
‘If Charity found out that he had cheated, it would be quite shocking for her,’ says Emma Atkins, who plays the bolshie blonde.
‘She has cheated on people in the past and is very good at defending her own actions, but when she’s on the receiving end of it, she’s like, “How dare you?!”’
Sure that Charity’s ‘the one’, Mack struggles with his dishonesty and eventually decides he must come clean. But as he’s bracing himself to confess, Charity suggests he join her upstairs for some hanky-panky. Once again, the grey matter upstairs gets overruled by the downstairs department. The following day, he puts another smile on her face by revealing he’s booked them a holiday to Ibiza.
Charity’s buzzing, but as she packs her bikinis, Mack gets a call and furtively orders the person on the end of the line to leave him alone.
Has his meaningless fling come back to haunt him?
