Following the sad death in April of June Brown – known to millions as the legendary Dot Branning, née Cotton – Eastenders boss Chris Clenshaw has announced a special episode of the soap to air this winter in which the residents will receive word of Dot’s passing and bid her a final farewell. Dot has been living in Ireland since 2020 but, in accordance with her wishes, her funeral is held in Walford.
Chris says, ‘Dot is one of the most-iconic characters in British television, and it will be a fitting tribute. It will be exactly what June deserves, what Dot deserves and what the audience deserves.’
