As this new series continues, the first call of the day for vet Peter Wright is a cow that’s struggling to give birth to twins. Multiple births are fairly uncommon in the bovine world and this one is touch and go as Peter does his best to ensure farmer Will doesn’t lose any of his precious herd. Elsewhere, Shona treats a much-loved horse called Barney that’s lost his zest for life and has a stubbornly swollen eye, while Julian operates on a ferret with an infected paw. Finally, Peter and Matt wrestle with a miniature donkey that’s got too big for his boots and Julian has a go at doggy acupuncture. ★★★ JL
