SERIAL DRAMA JOEL’S TOP BATTLES TO WATCH...
Channel 5’s Australian soap Neighbours came to an end after 37 years this July, but will it go out in a blaze of glory as it takes on ITV’S Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and BBC1’S Eastenders?
‘Soaps are the lifeblood of TV and become a real part of people’s lives,’ says Joel. ‘I used to love Neighbours when I was younger and I love that it’s been nominated!’
TALENT SHOW
Always a hotly contested category, this year will see Joel’s series The Masked Singer facing stiff competition from Britain’s Got Talent, Rupaul’s Drag Race UK and Strictly Come Dancing.
‘It would be great to not only host the NTAS, but to win one as well!’ says Joel. ‘It’s going to be tough, though, because Strictly is part of the TV landscape and is so brilliant!’
NEW DRAMA
BBC1 medical comedy drama This Is Going to Hurt is up against Netflix’s teen drama Heartstopper, BBC1’S gritty prison drama Time and ITV crime thriller Trigger Point.‘heartstopper felt like the It’s a Sin of 2022,’ says Joel. ‘I also really enjoyed This Is Going to Hurt, which was so powerful and difficult to watch at times, but brilliant and Ben Whishaw was great in it.’
