Leo gets the measure of Stephen… but who will come out on top?
Drowning in debt, calculating Canadian Stephen Reid has decided to rip off Motherrrr. But there’s a spanner in the works – a young, muscle-bound spanner called Leo, who susses that the newcomer isn’t the successful businessman he claims to be.
Leo’s suspicions arise when he’s conducting a ground survey for the Platts, whose sinkhole is opening up again (yep, that blasted thing is still knocking around). With No.8 unsafe, Audrey suggests her family stay with her at Grasmere Drive.
Stephen’s rattled – pulling off his con trick will be a lot harder if Audrey’s got David and co close to hand – and Leo clocks his unease. Opening up to Jenny, he suggests that Stephen’s hiding something. The panicked landlady can only think about their illicit kiss, and is unaware that Stephen’s harbouring another, bigger secret.
Leo keeps tabs on Stephen and later discovers he has lied about spending the night in a posh hotel. Stephen, meanwhile, ploughs on with his dastardly plan and packs Audrey off to a spa so he can get an estate agent round to value her house.
Audrey returns earlier than expected and, seeing the valuer, learns that Stephen booked the appointment. As her son comes up with a cover story, Leo reveals some shocking home truths and the two men come to blows in the pub.
Understandably, the Platts want answers. Stephen tries to oblige, only for wife Gabrielle to show up.
Will she tell all about her shady husband stealing £200k from her company? And as Leo vows to get to the bottom of Stephen’s deceit, is Audrey’s golden boy set to lose his crown once and for all?
