Corrie boss Iain Macleod has revealed how state-of-the-art technology was employed for this week’s scenes where Kelly is on the roof of a mill, fearing for her life.

‘We used a volume wall,’ explains Iain, ‘which is essentially a newfangled version of the old green screens. You can put your actors anywhere that you can imagine, so what we did was create this incredible rooftop sequence with a twinkling cityscape behind it.

‘We joked that there will come a point where we don’t need sets any more – you get the actors together and hit a switch and they are in the Rovers or The Kabin. But a tiny bit of me thinks that in 10 or 20 years, that might not be far from the truth!’
