In June 2019, faced with an empty nest, writer and celebrity cook Sophie Grigson squeezed almost everything she owned into her car, left her home in Oxford and headed to Puglia, the area that makes up the heel of Italy’s ‘boot’. Now, having found a new home in the historic town of Ceglie Messapica, Sophie shares the food and the culture of the area, which is known for its whitewashe­d hill towns, centuries-old farmland and nearby Mediterran­ean coastline.
