Trolled AGAIN!

Maria receives death threats... could Max be to blame?

-

Just when Maria thought it was safe to scroll through her socials after her cyber abuse at the hands of Weatherfield’s refuse collectors, she is crushed this week when the online hate campaign flares up again.

Hairdresser Maria has been trying to make a difference as a local councillor and her latest crusade has involved re-homing refugees, including Iraqi teenager Daryan.

Maria encouraged Max to befriend the lad and help her find Daryan a place at a local school. Unfortunately, the good deed backfires when Max is told at the last minute he can’t go back to Weatherfield High as it’s full, with the last vacant slot going to Daryan! An angry Max must now remain at the pupil referral unit.

‘Max feels like Daryan took his place, and blames Maria as she was the one helping him,’ explains Samia Longchambon, who plays the socially conscious stylist. ‘She starts getting more online abuse, which she thought had died down. When she’s trolled about helping refugees, it reminds her of the last time when she was scared to leave the house. Maria is concerned for her and her family’s safety again.’

After Max refuses to let David borrow his laptop, David shares his suspicions with Shona that his son could be responsible for the online abuse Maria is getting. David confronts Max, who denies he’s behind the toxic trolling, but it’s not enough to convince the teen’s dad and he takes action.

‘Maria sees Max being taken away in a police car and David tells her he thinks Max might be behind the trolling,’ continues Samia. ‘I guess it makes sense because of what happened with his school place.’

The cops seize Max’s computer while he continues to protest his innocence.

But as officers reveal what they’ve discovered, will their findings prove David right?
