Just over a year after Janine Butcher made her Walford comeback, actor Charlie Brooks has announced that she is to bow out of the soap. It’s believed Janine’s final scenes will air in the New Year.

‘I’ve had an amazing time, as I always do when I go back,’ says Charlie, 41. ‘But as always with Janine, she probably should not outstay her welcome.’

Janine is pregnant with Mick Carter’s child and is harbouring a huge secret – she was responsible for the car crash that almost killed love rival Linda. Will she be found out before she goes?
