MYSTERY Patricia Clarkson’s dogged New Orleans detective tries to solve the death of an eminent astrophysicist (Mamie Gummer), who has been found shot in her observatory. The dead woman was an expert in black holes and her baffling demise proves just as hard to crack. With notions of cosmology and serial killers, quantum mechanics and cats all in the mix, this mystery thriller manages to be both engaging, and a bit barmy. Dir: Carol Morley 2018, 15
