Mary Berry: Cook & Share
Mary is in Edinburgh alongside 30,000 runners for the annual marathon around the beautiful Scottish city. She hasn’t brought her trainers (although we wouldn’t be that surprised if she broke out into a jog) but she starts the race, cheering on the crowds before making her favourite hearty breakfast of an eggy bread avocado and ham sandwich, fried for extra crunch and flavour. She also prepares a simple and delicious-looking tomato and garlic pistou (like pesto but no pine nuts) tart and her go-to speedy dinner of pea and pesto spaghetti. There’s also a Sunday-best minted lamb casserole followed by indulgent honeycomb rocky road to feed the hungry runners at the finish line. ★★★★ JL
