The LARKINS Escape to the country as Pop and Ma return

-

DRAMA 8PM, ITV

Simon Nye’s delightful adaptation of the HE Bates classic, starring Bradley Walsh and

Joanna Scanlan as Pop and Ma Larkin, returns for a second series. With Mariette still away on her honeymoon, the focus falls on younger sister Primrose (Lydia Page), who is smitten by the handsome new vicar. Pop is less taken with the new neighbours – hilariously played by Morgana Robinson and Julian Rhind-tutt – a snobby couple from London who pay over the odds for a rundown property, invite the Larkins to an excruciatingly awkward dinner party, and annoy the locals when they start shooting guns at all hours. A welcome blast of feel-good, nostalgic, escapism. IM
