The film sees Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown) reprise her role as Enola and Sherlock’s courageous, feminist mother, Eudoria. Also back are Susan Wokoma (Chewing Gum) as Edith and Adeel Akhtar (Sherwood) as police officer Inspector Lestrade. Meanwhile, former Eastenders star Sharon Duncanbrewster plays an enigmatic character who crosses Enola’s path and Harry Potter’s David Thewlis joins the cast as a sinister cop. ‘David plays an utter villain,’ says director Harry Bradbeer. ‘But I wanted this story to be a grittier one; I wanted it to be a completely new world for Enola, so she was more out of her depth.’
