D-day FOR LOLA

The young mum has surgery for a brain tumour – will all go to plan?

-

Lola and Jay’s world has been turned upside down following their shock discovery that she has an aggressive brain tumour. Will the soap gods be in generous spirits and grant the young mum a miraculous recovery, or will doom and gloom prevail? Danielle Harold, who plays Lola, is set to leave the soap, so we know what our money’s on.

For now, though, Lola’s trying to stay positive. As the doctor talks her through her upcoming surgery, she looks to the future and makes plans with daughter Lexi for next year’s Halloween, having missed out on this year’s celebrations.

It’s a different story for Jay, who’s unable to keep calm and carry on. He’s devastated that his happy ending with Lola looks set to be cut short and, as he struggles with the pressure, he has a run-in with Ravi.

Ben spots the altercation and realises his bruvva needs help.

As the day of the op arrives, Lola frets about the aftereffects. Jay, meanwhile, keeps himself busy at the funeral parlour, but Ben, Mitch and Harvey step in to hold the fort, urging him to put work to one side so he can concentrate on what’s really important.

Arriving at Walford General, Jay tries to remain strong, but Lola can see through the bravado and the couple share a loving moment before she’s wheeled down to theatre. He insists on sticking around and is later joined by Billy.

As Lola finally emerges, after a gruelling ordeal under the knife, will her prayers be answered or will her surgeon have some sobering news?
