Navin Chowdhry is currently ruffling feathers as ne’erdo-well Nish Panesar, but the star admits that when it comes to Eastenders villains, no one does it for him like Mitchell head honcho Phil.

‘Steve Mcfadden has been delivering for so long as Phil that you take it for granted,’ says Navin, 51. ‘I’ve been following recent episodes, and he’s been as great to watch for the past few weeks as he has for the past 20-odd years.

‘I haven’t met Steve yet, but our paths will cross in the upcoming weeks. I’m looking forward to it!’
