BORN TO BE KING
Charles Philip Arthur George was born in Buckingham Palace on 14 November 1948. Four years later, on 2 June 1953, he attended the Coronation of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. In 1956, he became the first heir apparent to attend school – Hill House in London – rather than be educated by a private tutor. He went on to his father’s old school Gordonstoun in Scotland, where he did not enjoy the famously tough regime – although he later said, ‘It taught me to accept challenges and take the initiative.’
