Over the years, His Majesty has been very vocal about the issues he feels strongly about – modern architecture, alternative medicine and, most notably, the environment.

His interest in organic farming led to the launch of his own organic brand, Duchy Originals, in 1990, with the profits going to charitable causes.

In 1976, he founded the Prince’s Trust to help vulnerable 11- to 30-year-olds get their lives on track. It is estimated that it has helped over 950,000 people.

But he has acknowledged that his new role as head of state means a reduction in this type of work.
