Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews has revealed how she likens her alter-ego, Jenny Connor, to a fairy tale character.

‘I see her a bit like Rapunzel in a tower,’ admits Sally Ann, 52, ‘but she’s got those walls on remote control. Sometimes, they can go right up, and sometimes they can come right down, and sometimes there’s a happy medium.’

She adds, ‘When Jenny’s happy, she’s happy, and she doesn’t go looking for trouble. She doesn’t go looking for anything, really. She reacts rather than instigates an issue. But she’s constantly got those walls on standby, to go up or down, and I love that about her.’
