Alya joins Dee-dee for a new career, while it’s all change over at the Bistro…

-

‘WORKING ON THE STU CASE SPARKED SOMETHING INSIDE HER’

We said not so long ago that Alya Nazir was wasted at Speed Daal, and it seems Dee-dee Bailey agrees, for this week she asks her friend to become her legal secretary.

Ee, we can just imagine Alya wafting down t’cobbles with a briefcase, talking about affidavits and depositions.

Dee-dee’s proposition comes after she’s offered a job at the solicitor’s office by Adam. And to think just a few months ago, she was at a flashy firm in LA. Still, who needs air con and juice shots when you’ve got threadbare carpets and builder’s tea?

Dee-dee accepts, subject to salary negotiations. Sharing her news with Alya, she tells her pal she’d love her to be her righthand woman, and would personally train her up.

‘She really likes the way they worked together on the Stu case,’ says Channique Sterling-brown, who plays Dee-dee, ‘and she wants to nurture Alya’s talent.’

As Alya ponders the proposal, over at the Bistro, Debbie’s still in financial dire straits and is advised by partner Ronnie that to avoid bankruptcy, she should sell her half of the business.

Debs accepts it’s the best way forward, and gives Nick and Leanne first dibs. But they’re hardly rolling in it, and can only make her a paltry offer.

Wanting a fair deal for Debs, Ronnie contacts a broker mate, who says that selling the business in its entirety would be easier than trying to flog a half share. With that, Debbie asks Nick and Lea if they’ll sell up, too… But will they agree?

Back at Speed Daal, Alya tells Yasmeen about her job offer. The glam gran has a spring in her step, having decided to take things further with Stu, and persuades her granddaughter to seize the day… which is what Alya does.

‘As much as Alya loves working with her family business, she has always felt there is more she can achieve,’ says actor Sair Khan.

‘Working on the Stu case sparked something inside her, and she just wants to see where it can go.’

What lies ahead for the Street’s latest dynamic duo?
