Madame Tussauds Blackpool has a new waxwork creation to add to its collection: a startlingly lifelike homage to Coronation Street’s David Platt. The figure was officially unveiled by actor Jack P Shepherd, who plays the former troublemaker and now married dad-of-two, and will stand alongside other iconic Corrie characters, including Jack and Vera Duckworth, Bet Lynch and Ken and Deirdre Barlow.

‘It was incredibly surreal,’ says Jack, 34, of the moment he saw his wax double for the first time. ‘It looks so much like me, and really captures the essence of David Platt’s character.’
