Charlie Brooks, who is due to exit Eastenders as Janine Butcher in the coming weeks, has landed a stage role. She’ll appear in the National Theatre’s touring production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

The play is adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel about a man who returns to his childhood home and is transported to a magical world. Charlie, 41, will play supernatural creature Ursula.

The tour kicks off at The Lowry, Salford, on 12 December and will conclude at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on 30 September 2023.
