THRILLER Michael C Hall is a jittery everyman hero in this tense, twisty crime thriller. The setting is 1989 Texas, where Hall accidentally shoots dead a would-be burglar, but then the dead man’s vengeful ex-con dad (Sam Shepard) turns up in town, as does Don Johnson’s strutting private detective. The plot that ties them together is gripping, but it’s the characters that make this so compelling. Dir: Jim Mickle 2014, 15
