The NIGHTMARE before Christmas

Daniel panics when Daisy finds a lump

-

Daniel Osbourne’s world came crashing down when wife Sinead died from cancer, and it’s been a long old slog for the young widower to piece his life back together.

So naturally, he is panicstricken when new partner Daisy finds a lump in her breast. Is he about to be robbed of another woman he loves?

Daisy’s discovery comes at a time when her relationship with Daniel is as stable as it’s ever likely to be. They’ve made a big commitment by shacking up together, and Daniel is finally getting his act together on the career front. After reading an article by his ex, Bethany Platt, he’s inspired to start writing again.

‘Bethany was someone Daniel almost mentored, so for her to be writing and him not to be makes him take stock of where he’s at and what he’s been doing since he stopped teaching – which isn’t very much,’ reveals actor Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel.

Daisy’s jealous at the mention of his ex, but she has bigger fish to fry when she discovers her lump. The barmaid confides in Jenny, who persuades her stepdaughter to put Daniel in the loop.

A shaken Daniel insists on accompanying his girlfriend to the doctor’s, but on the day of the appointment, he’s tormented by thoughts of what might be…

Rob adds, ‘It’s his worst nightmare that, yet again, the woman he loves could be struck down with cancer, and it’s doubly worse that this is someone his son Bertie is growing closer to.

‘His plan is to meet Daisy at the surgery but he’s so nervous, he finds himself in the pub, having a whisky to calm himself down. He keeps on to the point where he’s too drunk to go, so he carries on drinking in Victoria Garden.’

Peter collars his brother and gives him a pep talk, prompting Daniel to try to pull himself together.

Over at the surgery, Daisy’s upset that she’s having to deal with her nightmare on her own, and she’s positively livid when, as she’s midconsultation, Daniel staggers in, three sheets to the wind.

Let down in her hour of need, will she decide Daniel’s not the man for her?

‘IT’S HIS WORST NIGHTMARE THAT, YET AGAIN, THE WOMAN HE LOVES COULD BE STRUCK DOWN WITH CANCER’
