Billy’s in for a shock when his estranged father Stevie turns up
He was knocked for six by the death of his granddaughter Lola, but the sun is shining once more for Billy in light of Honey’s marriage proposal. Not for long, though – as the smitten market trader looks to the future, a dark cloud looms in the shape of his estranged dad, Stevie Mitchell.
Stevie (Alan Ford, who played gangster Brick Top in Snatch) pitches up during some drinks in The Vic, arranged by Nadine.
The former escort has ruffled feathers by announcing she’s pregnant with Jay’s baby, and decides she needs to get his nearest and dearest onside.
There are smiles all round as Billy presents Honey with a new engagement ring, but the moment is short-lived when Stevie walks in. Billy’s had nothing to do with him for years, and he and Phil order him to ‘do one’.
Stubborn Stevie sticks around and Billy eventually agrees to hear him out. The pair have a frank conversation about Billy’s childhood, but just as it seems bridges may be built, Stevie riles his son by bringing up his treatment of nephew Jamie.
Honey urges Stevie to try harder, but Billy refuses to give him the time of day. Lexi, however, is more welcoming. Wary of Nadine, whom she recently spied drinking alcohol, she secretly enlists Stevie with helping her investigate the expectant blonde.
Confronting Nadine at Jay’s place, Stevie encourages her to do a DNA test to prove Jay is her baby’s father, and quickly gets suspicious of her behaviour.
Nadine is clearly hiding something – will Stevie get to the bottom of her big secret?
