DoMino 6/10 defanged? underwhelming swansong for one-time stadium contenders
They were never tamed or domesticated, but you can’t help but feel that somewhere along the way Wild Beasts failed to grow into their full potential beastliness. 2008’s Limbo, Panto may be the greatest debut album by a British indie act this century, while 2009’s Two Dancers hinted at a stadiumsized future. It’s a shame that this anodyne live studio recording, largely comprising songs from 2016’s pop misfire Boy King, is to be their epitaph: only on “Hooting And Howling” and “All The Kings’ Men” do you catch the sharp, hot stink of their once feral presence.
