UNCUT

THE bEST OF 2017: THE FINAl WORD?

-

I wholeheartedly agree with Dan AR in last month’s Feedback section. That two of 2017’s most soulless, hipster albums, LCD Soundsystem and Father John Misty, should feature so highly was a joke. Seriously, does anyone actually enjoy these idiots? The album of the year for me by a country mile was Zero Moon by David Corley, an artist I discovered after a 9/10 review for his debut album Available Light by Allan Jones in a previous edition of your magazine. The fact that his latest album didn’t even warrant a review in Uncut is beyond belief! Jon Palmer, via email I know it’s customary for people to take issue with your end of year list, especially when it omits a favourite artist of theirs, but I’m struggling to comprehend the absence of The New Pornographers’ Whiteout Conditions. How could this terrific record, so well-received by your reviewer, fail to make the Top 75? Richard Hibbert, Devon
