ROSWELL RUDD
Jazz trombonist (1935–2017)
Bridging the divide between dixieland music and free jazz, trombonist roswell rudd was proficient in a variety of styles, embracing funk, blues and world music as his professional life wore on. His first major gig was with Eli’s chosen Six in the late ’50s, after which he became sideman to Archie Shepp, cecil Taylor, John Tchicai, Steve Lacy and others. in 2001 he collaborated with kora player Toumani diabaté on MALIcool.
