Ride The skies 2001

I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, where Lightning Bolt formed. I must have been 14 or 15. I went to see Sonic Youth, and they played early – they wanted to play with Lightning Bolt, but didn’t wanna play after them, because Lightning Bolt were so loud… a tough act to follow! So after Sonic Youth, Lightning Bolt set up in the entryway of this crammed little hall and it was a shocking thing to behold. I was a little intimidated by their music at first, it was just so powerful, but I finally came around and bought Ride The Skies. Man, that’s a fun record.
