That old Black Magic 1995

The Italian part of my family was big into Frank Sinatra. My grandfather, before he went off to Korea, had a short career as a singer, and he sang with Bing Crosby. So I was familiar with a lot of these crooners, but never really Sammy Davis Jr. I bought this compilation and I was blown away. He sang songs I’d never heard any crooner do, specifically showtunes, and I thought his interpretations of songs like “That Old Black Magic” or “Chicago” were superior to other singers’, and that he was the best of the bunch. To this day, he’s still my favourite singer from that era.
